Our Method
As fellow students ourselves, we at Alby understand the struggles students today are faced with. And so, we turned to science to find the most efficient solution we could.
Lesson Summaries
Our lesson summaries save students and teachers time, allowing students to prioritize active recall and learning over monotonous copying down of notes. Furthermore, the personalizable nature of our lesson summaries allows each student to make it their own as necessary! It prompts students to reflect on their learning and engage in metacognition, to reflect on what they think needs bolding or highlighting based on their own understanding. Students can add their own examples and make their summary truly personal, with the framework and guidance provided by the teacher in the default lesson summary.
Student and Educator Dashboards
Our student and educator dashboards are essentially a two way dialogue between students and teachers as everything teachers post and upload automatically appear on student calendars. Furthermore, students have the ability to plan out study sessions which will appear on their dashboard, serving as a visual aid for students to best space out their studying and reap the benefits of spacing.
Multiple Choice Quizzes
Our Multiple Choice Quizzes are generated automatically from the lesson summaries teachers provide. This means that with ALBy, opportunities for students to engage in active recall and receive feedback, don't come at the cost of more grading time for teachers. Furthermore, our quizzes prompts students to engage in metacognition, reflecting on their own level of learning and grading the difficulty of the question. On top of this, with ALBy, students receive elaborative feedback, explaining not only which answer is right, but why each answer is either right or wrong.
Question Bank
ALBy's question bank follows a similar structure to that of lesson summaries. Questions are automatically generated from the lesson summaries, and organized into a class question bank, in which teachers have full control to edit as needed. Students are then able to personalize their own question bank, which will be organized by difficulty ranked by the student, or most missed questions. Each bank should be unique to the student, and a reflection of the student's learning and metacognition. Another opportunity provided by ALBy for students to engage in active recall and metacognition.
Flashcards
Our Flashcard prompter encourages students to create their deck little by little, to reap the benefits of spacing. ALBy gives students guidance, but complete freedom over their flashcards, a form of active recall. This not only fosters good study habits, but students may choose to study flashcards from multiple decks at once, allowing them to reap the benefits of interleaving.

Data, Insights, and More
ALBy provides educators with a plethora of data metrics and student insights to help them focus and plan their classes as best they can. ALBy provides a class live interaction score to gauge how engaged students are with the topic or unit. ALBy also provides teacher with the information regarding questions from the question bank students marked as hard, and the questions most missed along with the option that was picked instead. By giving teacher insight into student metacognition, not only do students benefit from engaging in it, but teachers can understand how students are feeling better. All of this to increase transparency, and provide teachers with information so that they can do what they do best: teach.
